Wenjing explores the varying interpretations of symbolic and physical representations of apples, moving from the unseen to the embodied. Apples to Apples exemplifies the broadening of work outside of a canvas, using the apple as a primary mode of expression to describe the changeable forms and interactions between individuals. As seen through the varying mediums, the abstraction of emotions the apple represents translates between surprise, joy, confusion, and corrosive despair, emotions which many of us felt. Apples to Apples aims to create a connection through the mundane nature of an accessible fruit while continuing Wenjings personal experience and journey navigating New York City.
